The education in Chile

This topic has been very important in the last year, here,  in Chile. ¿Why? In Chile the education is not free, in many other countries it is free because it is considered a right. And is a right! Not a good of consumption as seen in Chile.

The concept of “market education” comes from the military dictatorship, in this period the education in Chile was privatized, began to exist the private schools and private universitys, and started the ”profit”.

Thanks to the profit, many entrepreneurs of education have favoured, and this problem exists today. In addition, the education in Chile is bad, the quality is not good, the childrens of private schools receive better education than the childrens who studies in public schools. In the universtity, the tuitions are very high, and de low-income families cannot afford de children education.

Starting from these inefficiencies, in the year 2011 existed many mobilizations for education "free and quality", within the mobilizations there were marches, strikes and “tomas” of colleges and universities, flasmob, dances, cultural expressions, bike, videos alluding to the education, etc. Most of the students in Chile were mobilized to overthrow the current educational system, all this hard for at least 7 months. The society supported the cause, and often “cacerolazos” occurred in form de protest. The police repression was strong, there were many detainees and wounded, but the movement continued. Finally some progress was made, but it was difficult to convince the state to change the inefficient education system.

Today 2014, even fighting the same, there is profit and education is still a system of market, but we have hope even de this may improve, and to get the education "free and quality" that we all want.

 

Manal al Sharif: A brave woman

Inside the world there exist diverse cultures that have aspects jointly and others in those who are very different. One of the most radical differences that are considered nowadays is the discrimination between generes, especially to the women. One of the countries with more restrictions towards the women is Saudi Arabia, Islamic; where in his policies, for example, one prohibits to the women to lead vehicles, which has caused the world to have a vision of this country as "a territory not free ".

There is understood then that if a woman leads a vehicle in this country, this one will be punished by the law and will be imprisoned. It happened that in the year 2011 there began a so called campaign "Women 2 Drive" across the social networks, in which there took part a woman called Manal al Sharif, of 32 years. She on May 21 together with his brother, it recorded a video where she appears driving a vehicle, video that later was spread by the social networks. From this they stopped it then left her at liberty, and the following day they return to arrest her but they imprisoned this time for 9 days. The video was seen by thousands of persons in a little time, causing the indignation of some and the admiration of others.

In my opinion, she was a very brave woman, who risked his freedom and even his life on having demonstrated in opposition to a fact that it is unacceptable. The human beings, both men and women, must have the same rights, it cannot be that in a country is discriminated of such a form, not that a religion imposes laws that commit an outrage against any type of kind, managing to raise even death sentences.

On one hand, the irresponsibility that the human have with the Earth. Some actions provoke the disappear of the species, the pollution in the city, problems in the health of the persons, alteration of the natural geography, etc. When the problems are visible, appears the panic in the population, another topic important.

“Earth 2100” talk about the destruction of the Earth across the time. This movie has a protagonist, that is a girl that live all of the process and experimented all of the changes. Her name is Lucy. She talk about of the relation of her life history with the decadence that is living through the Earth.

 

The Earth lives through a natural catastrophe, the extinction of many species, animals, shortage of natural resources, death of the vegetation and also that of the human being. All that is the consequence of the bad actions that the people have done. The human being who uses cars every day and this has created the pollution in the city, has not been in the responsible person with this, has not been conscious with the problems that this brings. When in the movie they show when the disasters begin, the people try to create a solution of this, but the problems continue.

In my opinion this movie shows the reality with the terrible consequences that probably happen in the future, is not removed of the reality. In my experience I have seen when the people cannot remain calm when an earthquake affects the city and, for me, that is a problem because is more complicated to solve the situation. Also I have seen people that is not interested in save the Earth, or simply to help with the cleanliness of his cities.

 

I´m going to work with the geography, and I expect to help with my knowledge to improve the quality of life of the persons as a whole in spite of preserving the nature.
